I was talking with a friend of mine about funerals, burial or cremation etc so i wondered if anyone here had any ideas of what they wanted to do when they died.Personally i want to be cremated, and i want 3 things done with my ashes.1 - some to be planted in a tub (so it can be moved about if they move homes) with a small christmas tree in it, and want them to decorate me with lights and i want to be part of christmas - cos its one of my favorite times of year.2 - i want my ashes sprinkled in a forest, a circle of friends each taking a pinch of me and saying something nice, or sharing a memory of me before throwing me into the wind.3 - and lastly, i want some of my ashes put in a loud purple firework and set off at midnight on hallo'ween night (my fav time of year - witches new year) during or at the end of a party! The idea of being buried make me cringe, and i would hate my family to feel they needed to gather around a stone to remember me, or be tied to a certain area cos of where i was buried......so what about you guys????

When you die..........?

I would like to be fed to wild animals, like the monks do in Tibet, I think it's Tibet. Get in all the circle of life bullshit ya know.Since that's not an option here, I just don't want to be buried in a hole in the ground. I'll be buried out in the pasture and I don't want any kind of marker that can be discerned by anyone other than those who know what it is or more importantly those who care to remember what it is. I like the idea of vanishing from the world with no traces left. Just being one with the mother leaving behind all the other titles and classifications of humanity.
-
wow and mine's all ME ME ME!!!! damn! *kiss*
-
What? I like yours. It's fitting to the person you are, I think. Nothing at all wrong with that. Besides its different for you. You'll leave behind some family that will want to stay connected with you. I won't.

Cremated and sprinkled over some nice warm place in Hawaii. That's what I hope to do with my parents ashes this summer if I visit Maui, with the help of a friend who lives there.
They didn't like cold weather, and they were weary of South Florida, so it seems like the perfect solution.

If I could have it my way... I don't want to be embalmed, I don't want a $5000.00 casket just to be tossed in a hole and buried deep enough the critters wont dig me up and eat me. So I can make the grass greener. If family wanted a "headstone" I'd want them to roll a natural bolder to the head of my grave, o yea and to plant flowers not bring those stinky carnations to my funeral.
-
> and buried deep enough the critters wont dig me up and eat me
If I weren't cremated, then the bears or sharks would be welcome to eat me. It's a quick and natural way to return to nature. If I am cremated, than hopefully the potassium and other minerals in my ashes (or whatever combination of ashes the undertaker puts in the box) will nourish the plants.
-
I want to be creamated as well.
-
My body will have more nutrients in it if it is unburnt making much greener grass where I lay.How disturbing do you think it would be if say some neighborhood dog brought my hand home to nibble on? Bury Me deep!
-
Well, wouldn't the dog have to open the casket to get to your hand?
-
After the experience with my grandmother dying and her being cremated.. I have no desire to have it done. And I refuse to let anyone in my family that I am close to have it done. It was just too fast and left very little time for greiving. As for me... well the thought of being put in the ground doesn't appeal to me, but one of them above ground tombs would work okay. But than again I'll be dead and won't care to much lol.

Like you Im greedy.Im constantly building a play list of music, specific songs for special reasons ya know, these are to be played at a party, one year after my death. No funeral, no memorial, no bullshit. after a year people should be over the grief, I want a big fucking party with the money that would of been spent on my funeral. I want the music I selected played at that party and nothing else. I want people to get together, drink, eat and be merry, and remeber good times they had with me, enough of all the crying bullshit. For my ashes, since I will be cremated, some are to go in small vials, one is to be deposited on each of the list of high points I love. the others can be tossed out in the trash for all I care.a couple others are to be dropped inthe woods of some of my favorite spots. One small vial is to be left at the back of level 4 of the first cave I ever did. It stil happens to be one of my faves and I visit it each year. that way I can still be burried, 1/2 a mile inside and with about 2000 feet of dirt and rock over me.Its all about me god damned it !
-
If you were cremated, the worst that could happen is that he'd come home with some ashes stuck to his nose.If we could find a more energy-efficient way do do cremations in the U.S., it would likely be better for the environment then bringing in equipment to dig holes. Admittedly, shovels and manual labor are pretty cheap.
-
decompasition and nutrient dispersal occurs at the top 6 inches of the dirt. there is some going on below that but not any that goes on quikly or makes a real difference in plant life. Burry you deep? that would defeat the purpose of you being stuck inthe ground to feed the plants.
-
No casket, If it were my way, it would just be me VS the worms. But it cannot be for the reason that we as humans can carry communicable disease, virus, ECT.
-
It would be ironic if someone got killed placing your vial in the back of a cave. Can I go to your year-out party and hook up with someone?
-
I'm not sure about viruses, but you wouldn't want your decomposing goop to get into anyone's well water.
-
Be my guest Steve, you can hook up with anyone ya like, even Julie since Ill be dead and not care.as to placing the vial, my brother is a caver, hes been to boomerang many times himself and is the one that took me there my first time. Hes also a high pointer and does the summits. Im assuming he would do it for me on one of the trips he will take anyways. Of course thats assuming i die soon enough that hes still alive and in shape to do it since hes ten years my senior. If not I know too many people in the climbing community and cavers that would do it on a trip they had planned anyways. Of course, death is always possible on any of the trips, its always inthe back of your head.

There are people who have had their ashes put into little capsules, to be shot into space. I think the coolest thing would be to be launched into orbit, and then vaporize on reentry. It would be a big waste of resources to get a body out there, though. Actually, the space shuttle is a big waste of resources, but that's another story.Don't worry, I'll take good care of Julie.
-
See when you said, you wanted to be separated out and put in little vials I thought for sure you would have some women masturbating with one of those vials just so ya got to enter the holy of holies one last time.Better than that though you could have your ashes encased in the tip of dildo or be rattling around the inside of a Ben Wa ball. Maybe I should look into selling that idea.
