So here's the deal: I am always bored. It's not that there isn't anything to do, it's that I am not interested in anything. Watching TV is boring, surfing the internet is boring, playing video games is boring, exercising is boring, school is boring (actually, it's the least boring thing but still boring). Everything bores me, so I never have anything that I feel is worth doing. It really sucks because all of my friends do a million activities a day and they are always happy because they do things that they like. As for me, I'm either sad and/or pissed off all day and I'm never happy. I don't really do any activities because no activity interests me and I feel really left behind because of this. Does anyone have any idea or solution? I don't want to live the rest of my life feeling like happiness is just a figment of my imagination.

Nothing Interests Me

Are you looking for any activity or just outside activities?
-
Im like that, the best thing you can do and the only thing is just sit it out and hope too get unbored.

Quote:I'm sure this is something you're already aware of, but you sound just like me when I was depressed in first year university. I had all these activities going on around me but nothing could catch my interest, I just felt blah all the time, in addition to the sadness/anger.I would seriously recommend getting a low-dose anti-depressant, and talking to your doctor or counselor about your situations. If it's a chemical imbalance in your brain, the anti-depressants could really change your life. I was on anti-depressants for about 3 years (the lowest dose possible-effective enough for me), but I had to quit. I can't pass my FAA medical if I'm on anti-depressants. I'm doing quite well, considering that I'm not taking them any more. I am taking 5-HTP, which is supposed to be an herbal anti-depressant and it helps a little but I'll never get past my depression.

Have you tried St John's Wort?
-
Quote: Have you tried St John's Wort?I used it for a few months and it did nothing. And about the FAA strictness: I agree. Who on earth would want to be on a plane with a depressed pilot flying? Then again, some anti-depressants have been known to make people more suicidal but I've never experienced those kind of thoughts.

The problem is that there is a possibility that the medical condition will affect their work, at least the drug. Anti-depressants have a wide variety of effects on different people, so it's impossible to know how someone may react to certain things dealing with an anti-depressant. It's also to cover their asses. If there ever was a crash, they could get in trouble for allowing someone to fly a plane with whatever the drug is that is in their system.

The only thing i can really suggest other than looking for medical cures , is just trying different activities , you might get lucky and strike something that 'tickles your fancy'.Why not look at the less obvious ones ? Sports : football/soccer is common go after something like... rowing or etc , just test different things out , there must be something that you are really passionate about out there somewhere , just needs some looking for thats all!
