Speaking of hiding porn on hard drives. What needs to be done to make sure it is completely erased from my hard drive? I frequently clear out the history, delete files and cookies, and run my spyware program which also does a cleanup. Does it hide anywhere else?My brother told me that he had his computer reset to the date he bought it. Said it erased everything that wasn't already installed. That true?

Where do you hide your porn?
-
I bought Spy Subtract at Comp USA. It's great.
-
Okay...this is funny.
Everytime I see the heading "Where do you hide your porn" I think of the song "Where do you hide your heart" that Amy Grant did back in the day.
Amy Grant on a masturbation board! Crikey! -
This is very good.Spyware-Adware Exterminator Prohttp://www.pcw.co.uk/downloads/1158636

No need it, plus my Dad wouldn't care. Plus, I live in the guest house.

go to download.com and get Adaware SE, it is a great program and will get nearly every bit of spyware. Also, you should use Mozilla Firefox instead of Internet Explorer (if you don't use Firefox already) Most Spyware is designed to attack IE so Firefox gets little if no Spyware attacks. + it has a great Spyware blocker built in so you shouldn't get anything at all.
The only problem that its ever had was with a weird advert that floats around the screen on one of the pages here at ATA.
Also, after you start up your computer for the first time after installing all your sotware and stuff, set a System restore point (if your computer has the option) so after you do all your naughty internet browsing and if after you deleted it all, you still have a problem, you can simply restore it to the previous saved point.

I doubt that resetting the date would delete anything. I've had files stay happily on the system that had an erroneous date well in the future. You can take snapshots of your operating system settings at particular times and go back to them - that will uninstall later installations, but it won't delete the files.Even when files are deleted, all that the operating system does is mark that that disk space is now available. If you don't happen to overwrite them, deleted files can be recovered.

I keep mine in a drawer, then some in a shoebox under my bed. i had alot, well to me i did. i used to go to the store and buy 3 packs of mags for like 10 bucks. some had the magazine name cut off. so i got rid of those(yep i threw away porn, awful isnt it) and kept the fully intact ones. and ig et playboy. but nobody has found it. i have my little porn drawer and nobody knows. i like put other "good" magazines and stuff on top of those lol.
-
my brother subscribes to playboy and i go over there to visit and when i get bored i just sit on the couch and read the playboys lol, he doesn't mind, neither do my parents, he doesn't "use" playboys, hes got a computer lol, jus thank god the pages arent sticky, he jus uses them as reading material on the shitter ps i keep a dildo in my cidar chest :):)i dont use it though

In reply to: Even when files are deleted, all that the operating system does is mark that that disk space is now available. If you don't happen to overwrite them, deleted files can be recovered. How does this "overwriting them" work?
-
You can't tell the computer to overwrite the space on the hard disk with another file. The system places the files in the first available free space. The only way to be sure to overwrite the spot where the files were, is to fill the drive with files.

I don't hide mine anymore. I'm 23 and living back with my mother after a few years away. My porn magazines are with all my other magazines and the same with my DVDs. I've stopped caring about her finding them. One of my drawers is full of handcuffs, my girlfriends lingerie and other kinky stuff for when she stays over.I think my mother's given up on me....

There are file overwriters you can find at www.tucows.com or www.download.com that will overwrite files.
-
Burned into cdrom, kept on bottom of stack of unused cdroms.
-
Burnt on a CD? BAD BAD IDEA!!! Don't put it on something so permanent!! I hope it is a CDRW, if not, put it somewhere else!
-
Yeah, but make sure that it is just 2 seconds, only one second won't get rid of anything and 3 seconds or more will just put more porn on the CD - lol
-
Why a cd-rw? It's faster (and cheaper) to destroy a cd-r than to rewrite over a cd-rw.
-
Actually, CD-ROM isn't such a bad idea. You can tell if the CD is written on just by looking on the bottom but who's gonna look through your CD-ROM stack 'specially when you have hundred's of un-used CD's like me.I got into ripping CD's but then got an MP3 Player.

I hide mine on my bed under some stuff. Never been caught, and if i do, i think i would die of embarrasment.

I found my dads porn while looking for photos on my parents room. There is a box of photos and a box of shoes and in the box of shoes is loads of porn and some of it was from before I ws born so he must've hidden it well for 13 years
