phlebitis is usually a symptom of unattended unconsciousness. I agree, this was not one of her problems.

Fair or unfair? The Schiavo case
-
In reply to:million dollar settlementThat money's gone, spent on Terri's care and lawyers. I don't think you have any idea what basic care in a nursing home costs, much less the type of care that Terri received. In reply to:and after he was already seeing and having children by someone elseLegally irrelevant. Unless he's a great actor and con man, which I'm sure you believe, he appears to have been very involved, in a responsible way, with his wife's care.In reply to:the judge who based his decision on husband's testimony that 'she wouldn't want to live like that', not on any kinds of actual medical testing because said husband wouldn't allow them and who everyone seems to forget is also the government making decisions for the familyShe had a CAT scan. She had a CAT scan. Should I say it again? She had a CAT scan. It showed that there wasn't much, if anything, left of her cerebral cortex. The government isn't making decisions. The law, as it is, says that, barring a health care proxy that states otherwise, the spouse has the right to make decisions on a married person's behalf. As much as you might not like it, the judges cannot take their own emotional state into account when they rule. Would you like them to have the power to rule against people they just don't like?In reply to:her parents, who offered to take care of her, including financially, but weren't allowed to, and who were probably the only ones who really had Terri's best interest at heart. Her parents had their own best interest at heart. They just couldn't let go.In reply to:criteria by which we really want to decide whether we let someone live or we kill them? The criterion is that the husband gets to make medical decisions on behalf of his wife when she is unable to do so (and vice versa). I don't know what kind of dictatorship you would prefer, where the government can come in an mess with you life whenever some political leader feels like it, but we have the constitutional system that we have. The legislative and executive branches don't get to dictate to the judicial branch. If you value your liberty, you'll agree that's a good thing. In the case of Terri Schiavo, the vast majority of Americans agree.

Well said.

In reply to: Again, before you come out of your corner swinging in my direction please at least ready my post before you start putting words in my mouth. And before you come out all histrionic and lashing out at my post, maybe you should take the time to look and see who the f I was replying to. I wasn't even talking to you or responding to you. I was talking to someone else. Your rudeness and sloppiness in this is quite wearisome. We've all got our own opinions on this. I have one which is pretty well thought out. Steve has one which is also apparently pretty well thought out. We can disagree on this and bat back and forth with our disagreements. If you can't handle that, maybe you are too emotionally attached to be here.I appreciate your personal experience and the unique perspective that allows you to bring, but that doesn't excuse your sloppiness.

The post I was referring to in the second to last was in response to the post you made in reply to me. Hence: Re: Cenfath. I had thought it was aimed at me. If it was not I apologize but since you didn't specify anyone in particular I could legitimately assume that your post was indeed dirtected at me.
-
In reply to: The post I was referring to in the second to last was in response to the post you made in reply to me you mean the one on a previous page?!? Nope, not buying it. This may get a little muddled, but follow along.Your rant in response to me stated: In reply to: And I'd like to know EXACTLY what you mean by "an impressive list that you compiled...". If you're suggesting that I looked it up on a whim, you're dead wrong buster. and In reply to: Again, before you come out of your corner swinging in my direction please at least ready my post before you start putting words in my mouth. You're entitled to your opinion and I'm entitled to mine. Which are clearly responses to Steve's post. You will know this by the clearly stated "re SteveA" that appears at the top of my post.Plus you included this: In reply to: Every 2-4 hours huh...Let me tell you if you turned your patient ONLY every four hours in 8 hour period you'd be four hours behind. ...which wasn't even something I said. Please be more careful. You are attributing things to people they didn't say and responding as if they were taking you to task when they were clearly responding to someone else. That will not help you win friends and influence people.

Man, am I confused. I tried to follow a simpler thread than this and got befuddled. Let's just say that there may have been some misunderstanding somewhere, and that we're sorry if there was.I haven't heard much about the Schiavo case lately...it's been around-the-clock coverage of the Pope's illness and death for the past couple of days. Clearly the Pope had and advanced dirctive, whether written or not. He had no living close relatives.
-
In reply to: He had no living close relatives. except God
-
apperently, he was preoccupied
-
Or maybe God called him home when the time was right. The Pope apparently had sepsis and multiple organ failure. I don't think there's much that could have kept him alive.
-
Damien - I was replying to the post you made on April 1, 2005 at 5:19 p.m. (by my time) and also a post made by DxxLishxxIs_43 (probably didn't get that right...) that clearly are directed at me by this: re: cenfath
And also if you'll look I did include D (however it is actually spelled) and yourself.
-
I'm just saying you need to be more clear. Particularly if you're going to respond to two people with one post. How could I know when you were switching from me to someone else? Either way, you were upset at my responses to Steve as though they were to you. Just be more careful is all I'm saying.I'm sorry this got so confusing. All is well.

they're not talking about it yet but a few years ago the pool of cardinals being groomed as successors included a few black fellas and a couple of Free Masons.
I'd love to see a black Mason Pope but the poor bugger would probably be shot within 24hrs. -
How were the broken bones overlooked by the courts? I personally think he beat her to the state she's in!

In reply to:How were the broken bones overlooked by the courts? I personally think he beat her to the state she's in!You watching the Fox News Channel too? Mr. U. has an AP news feed you may be interested in.

No, I heard the laywer of the Schiavo's on the radio while I was on vacation.
-
In reply to:No, I heard the laywer of the Schiavo's on the radio while I was on vacation.Which lawyer is that? There's some evil conspiracy to let Michael Schiavo off the hook after he nearly beat his wife to death, and all the judges are in on it. Does that really make sense?
-
All right. All is well that ends well then. Truce. For now. >: ) he he.
-
It was there ofrmer laywer. THe place where Terri was having physical therapie did a body scan and she had numerous broken bones.Look into it, it sounded believeable.
