**hey hey hey Mr.........i didn't mean that you sat around thinking of ways to insult me, and if you had done then that particular one would have been lame LOL Its just, personally, i NEVER know how to take your posts...........so i asked, simple as that **

Aliens
-
this is cool... Perimeter Institute. This place is practicaly in my back yard. I've been there a few times now (the science geek is showing through)
-
So what if it's pure entertainment? I love to hear peoples ideas about aliens and other things that fall along those lines. Sometimes it's nice to be entertained without needing scientific information. That's why sometimes I wish I could see another side of you Steve instead of needed science to back you up.. just be entertained and have fun! Think outside of the back and don't rely on science for everything. It's nice to have you OWN opinion and thoughts. And your word of "magic" involves a lot. I've said it once, hell more than once, and I'll say it again.. just because science hasn't proven something as true (Nor has it proven it as false) makes it automatically untrue. If that was the case science would have us believe we are the only planet with life out there.. which I think is rediculous.

Seven years of tribulation have just begun. In the year 2012 the Nephilim are apparently making an appearance, along with the Antichrist.Google it.
-
ooooooooooooooooh if the real nephilim are as gorgeous as him from Hex, then im throwing a welcome to the antichrist and his dark fallen angel thingies party come 2012.........better get plenty of vodka for that one

**according to a webiste (yes i am bored LOL) **
2012 Unlimited philosophy
1. Humanity and Planet Earth are currently going through a huge change or shift in consciousness and reality perception.
2. The Mayan civilization of Central America was and is the most advanced in relation to time-science knowledge. Their main calendar is the most accurate on the planet. It has never erred. They actually have 22 calendars in total, covering the many timing cycles in the Universe and Solar System. Some of these calendars are yet to be revealed.
**wow i bet their walls were just FULL of different calendars with writing on em......... **
3. The Mayan fifth world finished in 1987. The sixth world starts in 2012. So we are currently "between worlds". This time is called the "Apocalypse" or revealing. This means the real truth will be revealed. It is also the time for us to work through "our stuff" individually and collectively.
4. The Mayan sixth world is actually blank. This means it is up to us, as co-creators, to start creating the new world and civilization we want now.
5. The Mayans also say that by 2012-
- we will have gone beyond technology as we know it.
**cool a laptop upgrade yeehaaa........ ** - we will have gone beyond time and money.
**thank god for that i have too little of either of them! ** - we will have entered the fifth dimension after passing through the fourth dimension
**far out man......... ** - Planet Earth and the Solar System will come into galactic synchronization with the rest of the Universe.
- Our DNA will be "upgraded" (or reprogrammed) from the centre of our galaxy. (Hunab Ku)
**I so wanna be upgraded to have more pairs of hands, for those tricky jobs around the house......... **
"Everbody on this planet is mutating. Some are more conscious of it than others. But everyone is doing it" - Extraterrestrial Earth Mission.
**totally explains that strange 'growth' on my leg...... **
6. In 2012 the plane of our Solar System will line up exactly with the plane of our Galaxy, the Milky Way. This cycle has taken 26,000 years to complete. Virgil Armstrong also says that two other galaxies will line up with ours at the same time. A cosmic event!
**totally cosmic dude....... **7. Time is actually speeding up (or collapsing). For thousands of years the Schumann Resonance or pulse (heartbeat) of Earth has been 7.83 cycles per second, The military have used this as a very reliable reference. However, since 1980 this resonance has been slowly rising. It is now over 12 cycles per second! This mean there is the equalivant of less than 16 hours per day instead of the old 24 hours. Another intrepetation is - we, or rather Consciousness have been down this same road seven times before over the last 16 billion years. Each of these cycles of Creation runs 20 times faster than the last one. The same amount of Creation is paced 20 times tighter. This is why time seems to be going so fast. It is not "time" but Creation itself that is accelerating. (see Mayan Calendar Central)
**so THATs why christmas seem to have come around that fast............ **8. During the Apocalypse or the time "between worlds" many people will be going through many personal changes. The changes will be many and varied. It is all part of what we came here to learn or experience. Examples of change could be- relationships coming to an end, change of residence or location, change of job or work, shift in attitude or thinking etc.
9. Remember, in any given moment we are making small and large decisions. Each decision is based on LOVE or FEAR. Choose love, follow your intuition, not intellect and follow your passion or "burning inner desire." Go with the flow.
10. Thought forms are very important and affect our everyday life. We create our reality with thought forms. If we think negative thoughts of others this is what we attract. If we think positive thoughts we will attract positive people and events. So be aware of your thoughts and eliminate the unnecessary negative or judgemental ones.
**my thoughts exactly.... **11. Be aware that most of the media is controlled by just a few. Use discernment! Look for the hidden agendas. Why is this information being presented to you? What is "their" real agenda? Is it a case of problemreactionsolution? Do "they" create a problem so that "we" react and ask for a fix, then "they" offer their solution? The "solution is what "they" really wanted in the first place.
12. Remember almost nothing happens by accident. Almost all "events" are planned by some agency or other. Despite this, it is a very exciting time to be alive!
**...........we're all doomed............*runs away* ** - we will have gone beyond technology as we know it.
-
Wow that was actually pretty interesting reading Angel. Things liekt hat fascinate me =-D
>However, since 1980 this resonance has been slowly rising.
Just blame me.. it was because I was born! I am very sorry :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Since you asked...In all of these discussions, there are usually few skeptical voices...or none. When people say, "I believe this", "I believe that", it's useful for there to be at least one person to say, "Wait a minute, let's look at this more closely". I'm sure it can be done without ruining your fun.At the end of it all, reality has a place at the table.> So what if it's pure entertainment? No problem with that. I love lots of science fiction and fantasy literature, especially classical stuff. I personally recommend Stanislaw Lem and Arthur C. Clarke. There are many other great authors.> I love to hear peoples ideas about aliens and other things that fall along those lines. Sometimes it's nice to be entertained without needing scientific information.I find it interesting. I think it says a lot about human psychology. It's interesting to see how the description of alien visitors varies and evolves among different cultures, and how it's influenced by media.> That's why sometimes I wish I could see another side of you Steve instead of needed science to back you up.. just be entertained and have fun!I have nothing against having fun.> Think outside of the back and don't rely on science for everything. It's nice to have you OWN opinion and thoughts.OK, my opinion is that the idea of alien visitors is almost certainly wrong, just as I think the idea that I'm Napoleon is almost certainly wrong. Since I actually understand something about the physics involved in visiting another solar system, etc., how can I force myself to believe it has been done? Small children believe that Santa Clause flies around the world, delivering gifts. Most adults understand why that's impossible. Do you criticize the adults for not having "their own opinions and thoughts"?> And your word of "magic" involves a lot. I've said it once, hell more than once, and I'll say it again.. just because science hasn't proven something as true (Nor has it proven it as false) makes it automatically untrue. You badly misunderstand what science says. With that line of reasoning, nothing exists, since science hasn't proven anything. There are just theories. The crux of our difficulty is that you (and probably most Americans) don't understand what science is.The domain of science is the natural world. It has nothing at all to say about the supernatural, such as the existence of God. But what do you do when science says one thing (e.g., evolution), but people insist on something else being true (e.g., creation)? The issue is that, in human history, "magical thinking" often crowds out rational thought. There is so much speculation on nature, but so little understanding of how things work. I have news for you: If you learn what science says about how the universe functions, you'll find it a lot more interesting than the magical thinking you engage in. The ideas of quantum physics are a lot more engaging than the idea that "some all powerful deity created it all -- end of story".> If that was the case science would have us believe we are the only planet with life out there.. which I think is rediculous. That is not true! Science does not say that at all! You completely misunderstand! Science does have something to say about the nature of matter and the formation of complex molecules, though, so it does have something to say about the parameters of life. If you think it's fun to disregard all of that, and believe what you want because it's fun, so be it. But science absolutely does not say that life does not exist on other planets. It also does not say that life definitely exists on other planets. If you choose to believe the latter, that's fine, but realize that it doesn't go beyond being a belief.People have plenty of fun, but it would be really good if there were a little more understanding of how the natural world functions. The level of science education and knowledge in the U.S. is now pathetically bad, and that weakens our ability to compete economically with other countries, and the ignorance diminishes our society.

Go figure you took what i said as an insult when it was merely in fun.First off, I have heard I dunno how many scientists say they believe we are the only planet with intellegent life.. I disagree, I understand more than you give me credit Steve. I'm also a lot smarter than you give me credit for. Difference between you and me Steve (well there are many but we'll stick to this point), I have no issues thinking outside the box instead of using the boxes handed to me by "scientists" or who ever. There's a hell of a lot going on outside that box.. give it a look.My whole point of my last post on this thread was the fact we never see the other side of Steve here. We see there always rational always scientific Steve. Don't feel obligated to play the "reality" card because you think we need it.. most of the time we don't need it or want it.. we want the opinions YOU truely feel. I have my rational side and I have my not so rational side and I have expressed both sides to everyone here, but all we have seen from you is such a serious person and it makes me wonder how anyone can be happy when they seem to be so serious all the time? Life has so much more to offer than facts and data.Sorry if you took what I said earlier as an "insult' or a "bash" when it wasn't intended.
-
I have heard I dunno how many scientists say they believe we are the only planet with intellegent life.If they said that, then they weren't speaking as scientists, but I think you're in error. Name one. I think you're full of baloney. Prove me wrong.I don't care how smart or knowledgeable you are, although I sure as hell don't think you're an intellectual. Everything I've read in the totality of your posts indicates a very weak understanding of science and its methodologies. You can't discuss "thinking outside of the box" if you don't know what the box is.> we never see the other side of Steve here.I'm not sure what you think my obligation to you is. Should I write a sci-fi story and post it here?> I have my rational side It might be interesting to see that side once in a while. If there's any crazy-ass pseudoscientific stuff mentioned, you jump right in the middle of it, with your credulitiy fully deployed. You are an extremist. To you, there are no boundaries. You live in world where there is no such thing as objective reality, and what's inside of your head is reality. (Have you looked up solipism yet?) It's thinking like that that kept Europe in the Dark Ages for so many hundreds of years. At some point, someone has to call a spade a spade.
-
I don't think it would hurt to put a more accurate, if not simpler definition on "science"It's not a thing, a dochtorine, a belief system... is a process, nothing more.hypothosis - experimant - conclusion."science syas" only means that the process has come to the following conclusion. If one disagrees with the conclusion, they are free to examine the proceess.I think it's really simple personally. Now, about those Myans and their 4th and 5th dimentions... if you're not all good boys and girls, I'm going to be forced to eplain that stuff to you.
-
hypothosis - experimant - conclusionThe "conclusion" is always subject to revision. More to the point: hypothesis - experiment - theory. That is the prime way that science differs from religion. The problem is that so few people understand the difference between science and science fiction.
-
ahh, my picky little friendhypothesis and theory are synonymous so your definition is circular. The classic experimental model ends in "conclusion".But like I said, it's the most simple definition. If your conclusion is theoretical, then another experiment is in order.
-
I'm done being nice to you.. every time I try and be nice to you, you insult me.. so from now on.. fuck off. I am way over trying to be polite and nice to you.. I am wasting my energy. You're nothing more than a jerk and nothing more than a high school bully who has to take his sorry excuse for a life out on others. Judge me all you want Steve, just shows how truely sad you are. sad part is you THINK YOU are an intellectual.. sorry Steve you are not. In order to even be an intellectual you have to understand human nature and common curtesy, which you have none of.Call me names call me whatever you want.. you want an "enemy" you got one, and trust me I'll be here to call you out every step of the way. It's done.
-
Hypothesis... Steve is an asshole
Experiment... Eddie tels him to fuck off
Conclusion... result to follow -
Oh I'm sure it'll be an explosion of great fun...
-
>>hypothesis and theory are synonymous so your definition is circular
No they arent.
Hypothesis is a raw idea that says I think. A theory is an idea that you have tested but cant prove.
Just like math. In my physics class in high school we did a problem where we wanted to know how much force for the revolutions of a cam shaft it took to open the valve with a given weight on it. we ended up getting numbers at the end that were impossible because it meant that the cam could never of opened the valve to begin with to reach the RPM's we were using in the problem so it was our theory that this was the result. cant prove it but we can show it. its a theory (sort of, not exactly but its the only example I can think of tonight when I should be viewing movies on my eyelids but needed to eat after getting home so much later thenI intended)
However, you also have postulates. A postulate is a theory that has been proven so many times its now an accepted rule.
like A+B+C=D and B+C+A=D and electrical law that sates if you know 2 of ohms or amps or volts you can figure out teh third.
If this doesnt make any sense Ill try to give better examples ater I get some sleep. -
Thank you, sir. You are correct.According to the American Heritage Dictionary:hypothesis - A tentative explanation for an observation, phenomenon, or scientific problem that can be tested by further investigation.theory - A set of statements or principles devised to explain a group of facts or phenomena, especially one that has been repeatedly tested or is widely accepted and can be used to make predictions about natural phenomena.________________Did someone have a meltdown a few posts back? Hey, is that a mushroom cloud on the northern horizon? One should realize that "nice guy" and "intellectual" are not synonymous. One can be an intellectual and a complete asshole. Professor Kingsfield from the Paper Chase is my hero.
-
In reply to: One should realize that "nice guy" and "intellectual" are not synonymous. One can be an intellectual and a complete asshole. Professor Kingsfield from the Paper Chase is my hero. Yep...that's pretty much what we've got enough of...intellectual assholes and nice idiots.

It's a law of nature. Which ones are the politicians?
