Do what you like, but you certainly haven't demonstrated that you're not "addicted" (i.e., habituated). "I can stop whenever I want to" is an old saw.How do you afford it? Do you grow it yourself? It's mega-weird of your parents if they don't know that you get high three times a day. You can read books and do homework when you're high? None of my friends in college could, and the ones who couldn't put down the pipe dropped out (it was extra sad for my friend who was on scholarship).
-
Can marijuana harm you in a lot of ways?
-
In reply to: I mean.. I dont get high all day.. I usually start afternoon/late afternoon and in to the evening when I do smoke. Money isnt hard when you work here and there... My parents do know... For everything else, see above quote. I wake up at 6-7am, so there is some time before I even get high. I have plenty of time to do school work...
-
> My parents do know.
That is certainly...unusual.
-
Mom knows straight up.. I told her I do... Plus I walk into my kitchen in the middle of the day and clean my pipe about once a week... She just asks about it.. 'How much did that one cost?' 'How do you use something like that?'My dad.. He knows (Told me he couldn't stop me from doing anything Im doing).. but ignores it other then that... Just when Im stoned.. He doesnt bring up anything important.. Just keeps it light.. It was never a secret. Its not like I hid my shit.. I've left pipes out in sight for weeks.. Left bud on my desk.. and talk about legalization quite often... I even did school reports on legalization.. Plus... relatives know and I dont think you could keep their mouth shut...
-
OK, but for the U.S., you have to admit that that's an unusual situation.
-
Yeah ... It is... I only know about 5 of my friends that there parents let them smoke at home...
-
No doubt about it...the Chinese will own us within a generation.

People that use MJ don't won't to hear anything about the side effects. MJ addiction is real. Here's only one from Brown University. http://www.brown.edu/Student_Services/Health_Services/Health_Education/atod/marijuana.htmEnter marijuana addiction in google and start reading!
-
In reply to:
For a small percentage of people who use it, marijuana can be highly addictive. It is estimated that 10% to 14% of users will become heavily dependent
So 10-14% just really have an addictive personality? They could become addicted to anything that feels good.. Candy.. Sex..
and out of those 10-14%, how many were forced into 'marijuana treatment' by the court system to avoid serving a sentance for possession?
-
They talk about the "many studies", but refer to none. I agree with FaBMX that there are people who have addictive personalities. Is a "gambling addiction" actually an addiction? Or is it that some people become "addicted" to anything that makes them feel a certain way?I would pay close attention to the "Respiratory problems" section, though. While it's true that marijuana smoke has some properties as a bronchodilator, it does contain a lot of noxious substances.
-
Marijuana is not gonna hurt you at all. You would have to smoke about 800-900 joints/blunts to OD. However, you can go right down to the local store, buy a huge bottle of alcohol, drink it and die of alcohol poisioning. Marijuana is probably one of the safest drugs out there.
-
WHY did YOU have to bring this thread up again! God...>Marijuana is not gonna hurt you at all. You would have to smoke about 800-900 joints/blunts to OD. However, you can go right down to the local store, buy a huge bottle of alcohol, drink it and die of alcohol poisioning. Marijuana is probably one of the safest drugs out there. Are you insane or something? No, it wont hurt you immidiatly in the long term it will, it kills brain cells and damges your lungs more then regular ciggarettes.
-
i dont think even 2000 joints will kill you... allthough you might be passed out by the 20thbut it doesent accually damage your brain. the THC gets stuck between the neurones in your brain. if you stop smoking for a few weeks you should be able to think clearly again.the whole loss of brain cells thing is all a load of shit.
-
Marijuana is not gonna hurt you at all. When you're talking in absolutes like that, you can be sure that you're wrong, no matter the subject. There is certainly evidence that smoking lots of pot is harmful to the lungs, even if there is some evidence that it can be helpful for some asthma sufferers. The jury is still out on whether the ingredients in marijuana can cause long term brain problems. (Keep in mind that there are many more substances in marijuana than THC.) It appears that, to the extent that there is brain damage, it's more temporary and more reversible than the damage caused by alcohol. Some people claim that marijuana doesn't affect their intellectual functioning and reflexes, but I don't buy it. Even if you're a pothead who get all A's on your tests, it doesn't mean that you're working to your full potential. It seems like a bad idea to take the SAT while you're high.[Waiting for white_lines to follow up and contradict everything I said.]

Ok, get those damm Gideon bibles (I am out of papers anyways) and lets roll !! I am up for it...hahaha

if this is any help to anyone, only one person has ever died from smoking cannabis directly (of course you could smoke so much that you start to hear voices that tell you to go disembowel you and those around you or drive into something while youre stoned). anyway, this person had smoked constantly for like 31 years and eventually died from cannabis poisoning. very very rare though
-
ive never heard of anyone dying from cannabis poisoning.edit i just googled it up and i guess its true. intresting!
-
Hmmmmmm.......
I personally enjoy smoking some weed from time to time.
I cant contradict anything you said though.
the smoke from sweet mary jane is worse then ciggys, ten times worse.
generally though people dont smoke a joint as often as one would smoke a ciggy and so its negotiable damage.
I used to be a strong abuser at one time but now I limit it to a few times a year and soetimes go several years with out any use at all. I dont belive ths is hurting me at all, not absolute, but I doubt its doing any more damage then if I never did it at all again.
As to being a pothead that gets all A's,
That was soooo not me in HIgh School.
I couldnt smoke and then pass a test of tieing my shoes let alone one with any meaning.
White may well contradict it all but can he back any of it up?
personally I think alchy is worse for you but then I enjoy its ill effects from time to time myself. -
I would imagine this topic is like religion or the bible. It can be interepreted hundreds of different ways by a lot of different people based upon what they know and or were taught.
In addition, everyone's body and metabolisim is different as well as the strength of THC, etc...etc.... -
Nope, the drug issues are ultimately testable. There is already some useful evidence on the subject, and if the U.S. government would lighten up, more tests could be done. On the other hand, there's not much in the bible that can be subject to testing.
