IS it?

Being a Christian, I can at least throw my opinion in. First off, the Bible says nothing about masturbation, so we don't have a definitive answer. From what I have heard Catholics say it is a sin, but that is a judgement by man, not God. My view of it is that masturbating is like peeing. You have two options: Willfully do it, or willfully not do it. If you willfully do it, that takes care of it. If you don't, it will happen at some point anyway, and will make a much bigger mess. However, you really should pray about it and decide for yourself.

thank you so much.
-
No problem, but again this is just my opinion, and I emphasize PRAY about it and decide for yourself.

Also I do believe that it is also a sin, not to attend church on Sunday (according to the Catholic Church); now as a Luthern - going to church or not going is your option! Masterbation is not a sin by itself; but according to the Catholic Church "Impure Acts" are! When God gave Moses the Ten Commandments - I do not beleave that "Thou Shalt Not Masterbate" is one of them, although "Remember the Sabbath" is! Now, I'm not going to dabate religion, just making some points. Also, to remember the sabbath does not mean you have to go to church. Back in the days of Moses, there were no churches, per se! Make up your own mind! This is also my opinion....

It does no harm (unless you become obsessed with it) and there's evidence that it does some good. Why would it be a sin? (The story of Onan is about something other than masturbation.) See A2A's page on the history of masturbation. For more information on Christian guilt about masturbation, do a search on the masturbation forum for threads that contain the word Onan.

Well, as an athiestic christian, an oxymoron I know, but its what i am, and a frequent masterbator, I would vote that it is no sin, its meerly a bodily function that WILL happen, wet dreams for example, its like htat other person said, Its liek pee, it happens because you do it, or it happens because you havent done it

Fuck sin, who cares.
-
me deffinition of sin:any deliberate action that harms another. but thats more of a moral thing b/c im agnostic.

Hello Curiousteenager....Against my better judgment, I couldn’t help myself and had to answer this question…I was raised in a very strict Catholic household. We went to mass every morning at 6:00am before school and twice on Wednesday’s,on Saturday's and every Sunday too.. I know the church and their teachings very well... Do what I did. I asked…The next time you go to confession, do yourself a huge favor. It should be an eye opening experience for you as well…Ask your priest this....“Father, I look to you for guidance and advice. You have always been there for me when I needed my questions answered about life. You are older and much wiser, so I ask you... We are taught that thinking of un-pure thoughts is a sin in the eyes of the church, so tell me father, what do you think of when you masturbate? I need to know so I don’t feel guilty about doing something that is natural... I’m tired of doing empty pennants for something I know every male does…”

wow guys,...thanks for your answers...big help!
-
I dont think theres a right answer. It depends what you believe.
Im an athiest so i think its fine, but that doesnt matter. -
Glad to be of some assistance.

This is just my personal opinion, so I'm not laying it down as law or anything, but I think whether or not masturbation is sinful is dependent on what you are actually getting off on . i.e. if you're thinking about some georgous woman and having sex with her, that isnt sinful; if you're thinking about raping her while suffocating the life out of her, that is.
-
You could argue that that's true even without the masturbation.
-
You could of course, but it wouldnt answer the question posed at the beginning of this thread.

I care...so fuck off.As to somebody else saying mastubation is not in the Bible, they either haven't read it or don't understand what they read. It's found in Leviticus 15: 16-18. Note that a man alone is spoken about first, then a man with a woman. This would indicate masturbation in the first instance. No mention is made of it being a sin...AND the Bible acknowledges it without mentioning it as sin.My opinion is that, if you are not married and are being celibate, it's not a sin. If you are married and aren't sharing yourself with your spouse instead of spunking off somewhere, there are issues with either the person or their relationship with their spouse, or both. Be careful who you listen to as many are more inclined to say what they wish was true as opposed to what they actually believe. The most angry denials will be from the ones who know they're wrong but wish to bury the truth.Jusy my $ 0.02.

Sorry to have to say this but I have too...You try and act like you are religious yet in the beginning of your post you tell someone to "fuck off". How Christian is that? It certainly gives doubt to your post.
