The question was what languages do all of you speak xD. What languages do you want to learn ect ect.

Speaking other languages?
-
I have some school French and German which is useful for technical reading but I am very far from fluent, especially now. In Europe it was just enough to get by with. I used to have some Dutch, but that's very rusty now.I'd like to learn Chinese. At the moment I'm afraid of tonal languages.
-
Ahh OK.. Fluent in English and Serbian.. 4 yrs of German (I was good especially with the grammar but haven't used it since I visited Germany after college in '87) and basic street knowledge of Spanish.

Fluent in English and German

Fluent in English. Like, duh. My Spanish is tricky. I'm better at listening and understanding than anything else. I'm very bad at trying to speak it, which is a shame because I'm Mexican. And when other Hispanic people find out that I can't speak back, they give me strange looks. My parents spoke to me in both English and Spanish while I was growing up, but I never caught on. Sigh, I should really polish it up.I have some basic knowledge in Japanese. I went up to the third college level. I'm able to speak enough Japanese to get me around, but I'm not fluent. I would love to continue taking more classes for it and become fluent in both speaking and reading.I would love to learn more languages, like German and Russian. My college offers a lot of foreign languages, which is awesome but I'm not sure if I can take any at the moment.

Quote:I'd like to learn Chinese. At the moment I'm afraid of tonal languages. Oh, I'm in the middle of learning Hakka Chinese from a friend of mine, sorta. Her family owns a take-away and she works at the front counter so I go visit her for about 3 hours every night she's working. She usually just teaches me stupid things like how to order food from the menu. But I'd love to actually learn the language properly, for both my own enjoyment and also to find out what her mum is saying about me every time she comes into the room and gives me nasty looks.

Took four years of german, lived in germany for four years. Used to be fluent, not so much anymore because everyone wants to learn spanish, so finding a german speaking person is difficult. Odd how spanish is considered the second language of America but english has its roots in german :).
Go for it man, learn them languages. Japanese sounds too difficult for me. Or maybe it's the site reading I don't wanna try. Too many characters (2000 or something? or is that Chinese?). Anywho, have fun. I think a nice language is Aramaic  That's a cool one.

I’m currently learning Thai (when I feel like it) and it’s nowhere as scary as I had expected. For the OP: I’m fluent in Hungarian and English, and have tolerable German and Dutch skills
-
I speak English, French, and I'm learning Spanish and Hebrew. My grandfather is teaching me Hebrew and it's a lot of fun but very confusing.
-
I speak Greek, English and French and I am currently learning Japanese. For me language learning has always been a fascinating thing, I don't know why though.
-
One year of Spanish, 3 years of German, 1 year of Hebrew, and some sign language.
I loved Hebrew. Mostly cause of that professor probably.Would love to be fluent in German and Gaelic.
-
What kind of Gaelic?
-
I dunno...suggest something.
-
Well there is Irish, or Scot Gaelic. Same language but very different dialects. Even Irish has a few different dialects.
-
I speak Portuguese, Spanish, English. I know a little bit of Japanese just the basics. But I suck at French even though half my family speaks it.
-
mmm...teach me Irish.Gee...can a person in the States even learn that anymore?
-
If you want to learn Irish, go live in a gaeltacht in the west of Ireland. They're lovely little places where Irish is spoken as a first language so you'd pick it up the same as learning French by living in France.
-
I speak english (of course) and I know some sign language, spanish, and a little bit of french. I'd love to be fluent in all of those of course!! Nothings sexier than a man who can speak to me in a diffrent language... I just love hearing a man speak french (it's my favorite) lol
