I was just looking for a clarification that you weren't tieing the general concept of planned parenthood to ugenics, that's all

Real purpose of abortions?
-
Why do people always miss the MAIN point? Perhaps you need to first make your point. You seem to think that everyone needs to have the same reaction as you. I'm sure there are probably quite a few people who would still agree with her ideas. It's sad how Margaret Sanger can be so ignorant. Ignorant? Ignorance has nothing to do with this.. Don't you mean racist, bigot, hatred or something along those lines?
-
It's just one of those things of history. It may have started like that, but it certainly does not reflect what it is now.
-
Quote:And why would any one agree with Margaret Sanger oh, you KNOW she didn't invent those ideas nor did those ideas die with her.

I don't understand what you mean by the title of this thread. Are you implying that abortion is actually just a method of culling black people?Margaret Sanger founded one group that does something that many other groups do and have done for a long time, but her reasons were of a very negative nature, obviously. But the crazy lady died nearly 50 years ago. Planned Parenthood does not continue with her goals as their mission statement. As for Charles Darwin and racism... (TalkOrigins.org) Virtually all Englishmen in Darwin's time viewed blacks as culturally and intellectually inferior to Europeans. Some men of that time (such as Louis Agassiz, a staunch creationist) went so far as to say they were a different species. Charles Darwin was a product of his times and no doubt viewed non-Europeans as inferior in ways, but he was far more liberal than most: He vehemently opposed slavery (Darwin 1913, especially chap. 21), and he contributed to missionary work to better the condition of the native Tierra del Fuegans. He treated people of all races with compassion. The mention of "favoured races" in the subtitle of Origin of Species merely refers to variations within species which survive to leave more offspring. It does not imply racism. What do you honestly think was meant by the phrase "Survival of the fittest"? Please, enlighten yourself.

_Well...what Margaret Sanger said was ignorant. That's how I see it!
It is what it is.

I dislike how many people use/misuse the word "Ignorant"._**ignorant **/ˈɪgnərənt/
--adjective
1. lacking in knowledge or training; unlearned: an ignorant man.
2. lacking knowledge or information as to a particular subject or fact: ignorant of quantum physics.
3. uninformed; unaware.
4. due to or showing lack of knowledge or training: an ignorant statement. _She may have disliked/hated blacks but is that really ignorance?

Uninformed/unaware about what?
-
Quote:I dislike how many people use/misuse the word "Ignorant". Oh, I am sooo with you on that. Another word that is tossed around with a thin grasp of it's actual meaning is "tolerance"
-
I agree it's not ignorant, it's stupid. Ignorant implies lacking the facts and coming to an incorrect conclusion because of that. Which further implies that had all the facts been available a different conclusion would have been reached. It implies the ability to reason. Stupid is more accurate. Stupid implies coming to an senseless conclusion in spite of the readily available facts to the contrary.I don't have the slightest fuckin' clue what we're talking about other that something some stupid bitch said but I don't know what stupidity fell like a turd out of her mouth.
-
Her dislike/hatred or whatever you want to call it, is ignorant of what she said about blacks, mentally ill and immigrants. You're not really making sense here and apparently don't understand what I am saying so I'm just going to leave it be. (see OldFolks' post above) What I see is a lack of understanding and sympathy. For once, try to put yourself in our place OK you're making assumptions here. Granted I'm not going feel the same as you do but it seems that you have this idea that I'm defending her or something. Why should I (or you) be upset over some old racist bag who spouted off crap 60-80 years ago? If someone were spouting that crap now, then you have every right to be upset.
-
one thing that I did want to mention is that I didn't actually know the history behind PP or Sanger aka nutjob. Thanks for adding to my knowledge base, always appreciated
-
lol and again. No, that's not what I said. I just recently found out WHO founded Planned Parenthood and their original intentions. That's the main reason I mentioned it because I had no idea. And just because the lady died 50 years ago doesn't mean her views died along with her. I'm pretty sure there are plenty of people who believed and probably carried out her original intentions. Quote:Granted I'm not going feel the same as you do but it seems that you have this idea that I'm defending her or something. You kind of come off as a cold and emotionless person sometimes... there's no warmth or friendliness in most things you say. At least none that I've seen. I always confuse you and Pete and then I realize well... one actually cares. And that's not to sound offensive but that's what I've noticed for a while. I just wish you were a little kinder or more understanding...

_I just wish you were a little kinder or more understanding... _
That's fine.. You don't know me... However, I'm not one to sugarcoat or make things rosy, nor do I care to spend too much time typing heartfelt responses.. I say what needs to be said and move on. Emotional I'm not.
-
No, I don't know you. And you don't know me. I'm not asking you to sugarcoat anything. Be real that's fine. I'm not asking for a retake of an Oprah episode. I'm just asking that you be a little kinder. I don't think you need emotions to be kind. But dang.
-
No she was responding to something I said.
-
I really don't see where I was exactly unkind in this thread. That's just your perception.
