Did you all really read that as a direct accusation towards bob? I didn't. I read it as a general statment of the attitude (of athiests) towards Christians which bob has posted about.

Maine Senate Passes Same-sex Marriage Bill

Although I personally didn't take it as an accusation of my murderous history, I failed to recollect any murderous remarks that I've ever made. Not to mention that he has (yet again) failed to actually give me an example of the rise of the atheist killing sprees.

the history of the torture and murder of Christians (by athiests) is just beginning.
Again I read it differently. "the history... is just beginning"... meaning it hasn't happened yet. He is predicting the persecution of Christians in the future.

Well to say that its just beginning must imply that it has atleast started.

Quote:Again I read it differently. "the history... is just beginning"... meaning it hasn't happened yet. He is predicting the persecution of Christians in the future. so is he saying the Christians or the Atheists will be driving rocket cars to the moon every day?
-
No, silly. It's the pandas that are gonna be driving flying cars, we're still gonna be on fossil fuel! (But in all actuality): Hey gang. I just want to say something, that's not quite obvious with all the dislike and disrespect flying around this thread. It's a good quote, and I think it's rather true for out siti'ation here... "The miracle of life itself; why people live and die, why they hurt and get hurt is still a mystery. We want to know the reason, the secret, the answer at the back of the book… because the thought of our being all alone down here is just too much for us to bear. But at the end of the day, the fact that we show up for each other, in spite our differences, no matter what we believe, is reason enough to keep believing."

I agree, sdp, but then he brings bob into it. That's where he goes too far. If you are going to suggest a link between someone and murder, you had better make it very clear what you mean - and he doesn't. If bob had said something recently about atheists wanting to persecute Christians, it would have been understandable, but I can't recall him saying anything like that. thor is talking about torture and murder, not just having evolution taught in schools.I think in fact thor was just being facetious, making what he thought was a clever remark. But it's not at all clever to throw around words as if they had no meaning.

Oppose gay marriage? You're 'a Bigot,’ says the left By Bill O’Reilly Sunday, May 24, 2009 - Updated 23h ago Here’s the thing about homosexual marriage in the United States: It is going to be legal in about half the states. There is no stopping the gay nuptials now, even though most Americans say they are opposed to extending marital law to same-sex couples. Right now, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont, Iowa and Maine allow gays to marry. New Hampshire seems likely to join them soon. Once the legislatures of New York and New Jersey get finished taxing the life out of their citizens, they, too, will most likely pass gay marriage. And even though the folks in California voted down gay nuptials, the Supreme Court there is desperately trying to find a way to nullify the vote. A new CNN/Opinion Research poll says 54 percent of Americans oppose gay marriage, while 45 percent support it. But if you oppose gay marriage, your opinion makes you a bigot. Did you know that? That’s what the Miss California controversy was all about. Your humble correspondent doesn’t really care much about gay marriage because I believe it is no danger to the republic and the deity can sort all this stuff out after we’re dead. I take a libertarian position on issues such as gay marriage because I want all Americans to be able to pursue happiness equally. However, I understand that most Americans believe heterosexual marriage deserves a special place in our society. Our Judeo-Christian traditions, which have made the United States the most prosperous and just society the world has ever known, speak to a family built around a responsible mother and father; certainly the optimum when it comes to raising children. Not only that, but people who feel strongly about maintaining a special status for traditional marriage have allowed themselves to be intimidated. When was the last time you saw a Catholic cardinal or archbishop speak against gay marriage on television? The truth is that pro-gay marriage forces have succeeded in their bigot-branding campaign and will not stop with marriage. Because they won this public relations war, you can expect to see the racist-bigot label marketed in other controversial situations. Already, abortion zealots are branding pro-life people “anti-woman” and “anti-privacy.” The left knows it has a powerful cannon with this bigot stuff. So the gay marriage debate is just about over. Conservative states won’t pass it, but liberal states will. There was a time when we truly were united states. No longer. Bill O’Reilly is host of the Fox News show “The O’Reilly Factor.” _____________________________________________________________So it seems that most Americans are opposed to same-sex "marriage". So much for democracy. But it does make one wonder where the true bigots will stop.

Bill O'Reilly is a nut job
-
abolition of slavery was also unpopular.so what?get over it. OReilly has never put a cohesive argument forth to support his opinion on gay marriage. It's just his opinion (which he it absolutely entitled too), He couldn't do it while face to face with Jon Stewart and he isn't even trying here in this article. So, as he and you have pointed out... you believe that god will sort it out. Now shut up and let god do her job (unless, as it often appears, you don't think god can do it without you)

Originally Posted By: wbwsouthpaw68Bill O'Reilly is a nut job Exactly my thoughts! LoLThough I kind of undestand now, Thor, where you get your misguiding information from especially if you listen and believe everything that comes out of Bill O'Reilly's mouth. I think the only thing in that while article that rang true was: Quote:Your humble correspondent doesn’t really care much about gay marriage because I believe it is no danger to the republic and the deity can sort all this stuff out after we’re dead. I take a libertarian position on issues such as gay marriage because I want all Americans to be able to pursue happiness equally. That's something I have been stating until I have been blue in the face. But one thing to remember about polls that claim what the whole nation thinks.... not everyone in the nation was polled. 45% and 55% are not that far apart and the room for error is great when you're not polling and whole society.

More of the same... Mr. and Mrs. and Mrs...or Whatever
-
AAAAHAHAHAHAH!!!That made my day, thor! If you side with everything, or at least the majority of, he says, he was also saying that he, himself, doesn't really care one way or another...but Eddie already covered that. U:Well yeh, people had to do work themselves. And religious peoples had slaves too...wonder where we got the idea....puritans...hmm...wbw: It's not just Bill O'Reilly ... it's Fox. Never, EVER watch Fox...it rots the brain, and their news is just a crap-load of propaganda. CCTV for the US! Woohoo! I will say though, The Simpsons are great...>>Woot! 10 Pages!!<<
-
OK, not only are you getting your info from Bill O'Reilly and Charles Colson, but you're reading the articles on a website whose motto is "Changing Lives, Minds and Communities through Jesus Christ".I believe that you used to go on about how you got your news from unbiased sources. What happened?
-
...but..but... Bill O'Reilly is in the no spin zone... Surely a journalist *cough, sputter, sputter, cough* who's credentials include such hard hitting reporting as was seen on Hardcopy you can't impugn.
For you kiddies who don't know, Hardcopy was a daily "news magazine" that might be akin to TMZ today but without the journalistic integrity, ethics, or hard hitting reporting of TMZ. The Simpsons did a take off of Hardcopy in the "Homer S. Portrait of an Assgrabber" episode.

Originally Posted By: thorMore of the same... Mr. and Mrs. and Mrs...or Whatever Sorry I only read the first few paragraphs, rolled my eyes, and than closed the window. Do you think stuff like that doesn’t happen in heterosexual relationships? This is not something that’s isolated to just homosexuals... trust me! There is "right" and "wrong" on all sides of the paths. So your attempt, again, to try and paint us Ugly was sadly implemented.I will say I personally wouldn’t want two boyfriends (“husbands”)… I have a hard enough time keeping up with one! Plus I believe a healthy relationship is build with two people. But that’s just me personally, what other people do in their own lives romantically is up to them; it’s none of my business. It’s not my place to put my nose where it doesn’t belong and point fingers telling them they are wrong.

You miss (or skip over, I should say) the point. The point is that the same logic used to attempt to justify homosexual marriage can be used to justify a whole lot of other things that the majority of folks would find rediculous. So...standby, we are about to be inundated by the rediculous. When you try to justify something that is wrong, you usually open a Pandora's box of other "issues" that will be difficult to close again. That's why, if your interests are not purely selfish, you won't go there in the first place.
-
Quote:The point is that the same logic used to attempt to justify homosexual marriage can be used to justify a whole lot of other things that the majority of folks would find rediculous You can do that with just about any topic, Thor. You can take logic, twist it, and turn it back on the opponant. It's nothing new, it's part of polical (and normal) debate. Quote:So...standby, we are about to be inundated by the rediculous. Yup, just waiting for your next post.... Quote: When you try to justify something that is wrongIn your eyes it's wrong, Thor, but in many other peoples eyes its not wrong. "Wrong" is in the eye of the beholder. It's part of life; people are going to view things different than the person standing next to them. There comes a point where you have to accept that fact, move on, and live your own life instead of trying to dictate how people should live their lives. Quote: That's why, if your interests are not purely selfish, you won't go there in the first place. So, I am being selfish because I want to marry the man I love and have protections that I can only get from marriage? But you on the other hand are not selfish for wanting to deny me these rights? Hmm.. interesting. And I don't want to hear your BS about "Well you can get married....". You know it's not the same thing, I know you're not that ridiculous. Marriage is about loving another person and dedicated your life to them, which is not something I could do with a woman. I wish there was a way I could get it into your brain I do not choose to be with a man, it's what I am attracted to and who I desire the same exact feeling of attraction and desire that you feel towards woman.

jumps up and down, waving hand That's me!! So you mean that'd be like Harvey Levin being on ABC news as an anchor in 10 years...gotit....I don't watch it, I just know. Well good, that'll save me the time, but none of that will get through. It's like that episode of that 70's show, where Kelso puts together bits an' pieces of what Laurie said to make it sound funkaayy...lolAnd with that whole bottom part there, Eddie, good luck, I've tried, and it got conveniently "missed (or skipped over, I should say)". >Maybe this is thor's whole problem..."Gay Liberation?
