Virginia Tech

Yeah, I was watching a bit on it before I went to work earlier today... but I was running late so I didn't get to hear all the details. I feel horrible for the victims, their families and their friends.
-
Let's make sure we get the DETAILS and FACTS about this incident before go off in a tangent against their least favorite gender, social group, race, etc etc.I heard this gem today from some moron: "I heard it was a chink who did it..." had I been close to him I would have back-handed him into the lockers. I guess the media is showing a picture of an Asian fellow being searched by a police officer on the campus. I hope that gent had a great life; he's officially branded now. Thank you CNN!

Apparently some guy posted pics of he and his guns and it got a LOT of attention. I guess Geraldo, DrudgeReport and some talk shows really jumped on it. The author of the LiveJournal had his phone jammed with death threats.
It was a freak coincidence that he posted that stuff right before the shooting occurred. :-(

I feel for the families and the students. I could never imagine going through something so horrifying. I think Speachless describes this very well.
-
The most horrifying part about this tragedy is it opens your eyes and makes you truly see that terrible things do happen, and that it can happen to you. It really makes you wonder how someone could be that unhinged in the mind to pull off such a heinous act of brutality.
-
I agree and I'm sorry but you cannot help but put some of the blame on the school. The first two killings happened two hours before the massacre happened and they let the school day continue. There should have been a lock down for the rest of the day with all classes cancelled.
-
This is so awful. My heart goes out to the victims families and friends.

I would just like to add, FUCK the gunman.Grieve for the 32 he killed and the woudned and thier familys, but Id personally piss on that fuckheads body and stuff shit in his mouth. He should be shot out of the sewer into New Jersey and left to rot. This happened recently at a mall I go to fairly often.punk ass kid, 18 years old, a shot gun and a pistol.he killed several people and wounded several more, some as young as 15 that he killed. I have a special hatred for stupid dicks that feel justafied in killing innocents. Atlest the people I have on my list of "Need to Die" I have a reason for hatred, not random people.and the school ?? jesus fuck oh shit oh dear, an hour after the first people are shot they send an email saying to avoid a certain part of the school? by the time the email was out he had already killed over 20 people. What a fucking waste of life.
-
actually, it was a kid that immigrated here from South Korea.
People cant even get thier fucking hate right, a korean isnt a chink! get the right ethnic slur with the right race.
I realize it wasnt made by you, but pass my message on to the one that said it. -
Though I have no sympathy at this time for the gunman, I do have sympathy for his parents who lost their son. Regardless of the circumstances it's never easy for a parent to lose a child.I just really hope the school is held partially responsible.
-
this is just further proof that god wants George W to bring democracy to Iraq.School shootings are insane. And who are they going to blame this time? Marilyn Manson? Video games? Rittlin?no, no and no. It's about time society took some ownership on this matter. We can't turn our schools into fortresses so lets try to adress the issuesThere are many disenfranchised individuals running around who need help and are generally ignored until something drastic happens. These ill individuals have access to firearms1+1=BANG

Absolutly! I have dealt with children who's parents don't do shit. The kid ends up pregnant too young, or in jail, or whatever, and they just blame TV or some shit...
WELL, who LETS the kid watch TV or, play video games, or whatever...Parents need to pull their heads out of their asses, get a grip on their kiddos and raise some respectful people.
Plenty of parents do a good job, and SOME kids just can't be saved, but there would be alot less if MORE parents were involved...
We don't have to live in mansions, and drive $60K cars. Put the time that is used to earn the bucks for that crap back into the kids. They deserve it, we deserve it.
Can you tell it's a sore subject for me? Geeze, so what, I live in a teeny place right now, but I got eyes on my kids, and stay involved, I couldn't do that if my life were all about making a buck and showing up my "friends"...

Right now many countries are throwing the blame on our lack of gun control, which it's hard not to see their point. But at the same time guns cannot be solely to blame because it's the person behind the gun that's pulling the trigger... but if there were stricter gun laws it might be harder for these people to get their hands on the guns... so yeah it's a pull on both ends of the debate.

What I find more amazing is the whole new dimension that Facebook has added to the whole incident. The media are creating accounts and groups trying to find people to interview. At the same time, there is a lot of information being shared that has not been reported. Some students were asking people to post a picture of the killer, and they mistakenly posted the picture of the guy from the blog.

I don't see how laws will help so much. If someone wants one bad enough, they are going to get it, no matter what laws are in place. I don't have statistics, but how often does a car become a weapon for some dumb punk? Insanity comes in many forms. Being drunk, being high, depression, abuse aftermath, and many other mental illnesses. (I don't really consider addiction a disease per say, but it does create SUCH poor judgment).I think it is all in how we are raising our kids. Americans have become lazy in how and what we teach. We let the media, the government, and the hippy bitch down the street tell us what to do, and we are afraid of CPS and going to jail for teaching our children right and wrong. Parents are not telling their kids no, and not teaching empathy, even more are in denial that there is something wrong with their child...It is mine, it must be perfect. Responsibility isn't being taught, and kids just blame EVERYONE else for their problems. I received a great email that I will share when I find it that eludes to this.Again, there are some GREAT parents out there. I commend them.

I read that the serial numbers on both the guns in this case were scratched off. So it is highly unlikely the guy walked into a gun shop and bought them. I'm with you on the gun laws debate, not sure what would be better.
-
Well I read actually he had a receipt for one of the guns in his backpack (I'll see if I can find the article I read that in, I think it was on Yahoo). But yeah I heard the serial numbers were filed off as well.
-
Really?? I read it on CNN. Dammit, I always believe everything I read on the internet.
