again, this conversation is wackyas one may observe springs about the dry land, could it not sensibly follow that this natural phenomenon does not stop at the shore line? And to imagine that the ocean is filled by springs is simply another fanciful allegory.Yes, there are springs under the ocean, no, they don't fill the ocean.Instead of debating the scientific accuracy of the passage, maybe we should discuss what it's supposed to mean. Or is that concept just too radical?

Knowing what we know today, sure...but I doubt the idea would even occur to anybody back then. However, what makes the ones at the bottom of the ocean unique (and therefor very unlikely for one, especially of that day and age, to suppose) is their size.

Well, that's fair enough. I had my turn to speak. Though, I apologize if my post sounded angry, when I really wasn't, lol.Now let's all go out for frosty, chocolate milkshakes!

You simply said they couldn't see "springs".
Since you like links...
http://www.extremescience.com/deepcreat5.htm Deep Sea Hydrothermal Vents
It mentions one vent over 15 stories high. In another related article, it also mentions that it's over 40 feet wide at the opening. It's been nick-named "Godzilla".

"Better" is a subjective term. I'd say changes that can only happen with large-scale manipulations of DNA. The kind that set each species apart from the other. Genetic mutation doesn't fall into that category since it never results in a different species...just a mutated one.
When I was referencing mutating I was talking about a widespread mutation caused by a single (or multiple) mutation in one creature being spread through genetics. Although separating species could be subjective as well. How many differences in DNA must there be for it to be called a different species? Wouldn't a large amount of these small mutations over time eventually cause the creature to have large-scale manipulations of DNA compared to what it used to be many widespread mutations ago?

Genetic mutation doesn't fall into that category since it never results in a different species...just a mutated one."Better" in terms of evolution is not subjective. It does not mean a more stylish hair colour, or a cuter bum. "Better" is an advantageous change that increases the chance of reproduction. (Granted that with some species, a cuter bum can increase the chance of reproduction.)And genetic mutations do not split up a species in one swift stroke. Its a combination of mutations, migration and other factors that separate a species to a point that when they are reintroduced to each other, they cannot successfully breed. Horses and zebras are a good example. They were quite obviously the same species at some point but now are incapable of creating fertile offspring. Lions and tigers. Foxes and wolves. Dolphins and whales.

Quote:OK...you probably got me beat with quotes. But I'll trounce you with trivia anyday, young lady. Bring it on! No you're probably right.I'd hit you with another quote but I can't find one to match this situation. So just because this is my favorite character:"The women of this country learned long ago. Those without swords can still die upon them. I fear neither death nor pain." - Eowyn"What do you fear, my lady?" -Aragorn"A cage. To stay behind bars until use and old age accept them. And all chance of valor has gone beyond recall or desire." -Eowyn"You are a daughter of kings. A shield maiden of Rohan. I do not think that will be your fate." -Aragornand then she falls in love with that PLAYA!

Japanfan, why are you spamming up this important thread?CoolDawg promised to prove the existence of God. He didn't deliver. Thor has come close. I'd like to see those springs, perhaps in the springtime.A.W., can you pick up the baton, and really nail the proof of God's existence to the wall?

This thread is as good as done. Besides, I always enjoy Japan's geekiness!

Darling... have you seen this thread? I mean really. Do you even realize the type of website you're on? If you're a Jesus believer then good for you. More power to you but I don't know how much I have to stress that this is not the place nor is this a good subject. My sentiments for this thread:"Why do you lay these troubles on an already troubled mind? Can you not see? Your uncle is weary of your malcontent, your warmongering." -GrimaAnd FYI, the Lord of the Rings was written by a Christian so booshakalakalakalaaaaaa snap fingers in z-formationAnd thanks I love you too Virtual lol

It must be very frustrating for you.

Rad, I find the spring argument to be compelling, but not a slam-dunk. And Thor, perhaps the spring idea does lend credence to the idea of divine creation versus evolution.

Perhaps they were referring to the mechanical device rather than a water source? Having anticipated the automobile suspension millennia ago would indeed be impressive.
