I found a site that makes me ill
What do you believe in?
(possum fascinates me :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:)
Well religion wise I am Mormon, (*pause for people to groan and go "mormon") thats where I learned everything about God from and such. I havnt gone in a long time because I dont like the people there and they irratate me, it does make alot of sense once you put most of the bullshit that some people say aside because alot of the mormon people are morons, ESPECIALY in Utah. They are judgemental bastards who dont know their own religion and deserve and probrably will go to hell. The way I translate it is if youre a really good person you go to heaven no doubts about it, I mean what reason would God have not to let you in? Ultimately that should be anyones goal in life to better yourself as much as you can. But the laws and stuff set down by the church if you dont follow them arnt going to make it so you are cast down to hell. They are more there to help you achieve being a good person, e.g drinking, drinking lowers your inhabitions and makes you more likly to do things you wouldnt normaly do, thus its a bad idea to drink if you dont wanna fuck up. Everything I have heard to do with the mormon religion has made sense to me. Everything that I have been told that is actualy correct anyway. Like any organisation it is run by people. All people have their differant translations on stuff and many other factors resulting in alot of stuff youre told being BS. Everything that hasnt made sense once looked into did make sense sometimes somthing to do with the church would piss me off for months because of one tiny thing that doesnt make sense but once I managed to get the right answer it made sense. In any religion everyone seems to have their own views on everything because people dont know their own religion or have translated things wrong in their own mind. It doesnt take much for one person to say one thing and twist it to mean another. People talk alot of shit about Mormanism mainly because they dont understand it or they have had some bad experiance with some dip shit with a bible who thinks he knows it all.I sound all fucking prechy now which is not what I planned on doing. I dont generaly talk about my religion because I hate feeling like I'm forcing my beliefs on people. So sorry if I come over like that.
You didn't sound preachy at all, very interesting. I like how you translated it, and i agree with you. (well sort of) See, I'm having a religion complex right now And i think you gave a very good description
If you got any questions or stuff you dont understand just ask and I'l try and explain ^^
ALRIGHT THERE IS NO GOD! HAPPY FUKCER!? > hey lets laugh at all the dirty liberals who live off the government on welfare and always complain then rather get things done! That always kicks the discussion up a notch. When you typed "liberal", did you mean to type "nigger"? Is that the kind of thing the word "liberal" has come to mean, in some people's minds?I'd be more concerned about the weak response of the Catholic Church to their child-raping scandal. All they know how to do is try to cover it up, put the blame on the victims, and evade responsibility. They seem to have learned very little.
If Gods existance was proved then Gods supposed "plan" would collapse. God's plan seems to be that we grovel at his heavenly feet. It would only make his plan work that much better.> we would have people like hitler in heavenIf you're a fundamentalist, then you believe that Hitler merely needs to, just before he dies, accept Christ as his personal savior.> religion wise I am MormonDoes that have anything to do with Christianity? In reply to:John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.If you don't accept Christ, you are condemed to an eternity of fire, brimstone, and reality TV shows.> One of which was one of my moms colleges who didnt ever belive in god and a he was digging an irrigation hole which collapsed on him and killed him and they tried to revieve him and all that crap but yeah he came back to life and was like "god exists" and all this. Or maybe the soil clogged his brain or he had a vivid dream while he was dead i dunno... Obviously this being sent back thing wouldnt work if I cut off some guys head with a chansaw. For God's sake, that guy did not die! Some people who've taken LSD thought they met God. I know of many people who have stared death in the face, but did not toss out their integrity to throw themselves at the mercy of an insane, moody, voilent clown of an imaginary diety.
religion wise I am Mormon>Does that have anything to do with Christianity?Yes Mormans belive in God and have the Bible so that would make them Christians and mormans class themselves as Christians. If youre looking for me to use the propper name then fine I am one of those Church of jesus christ of laterday saint folk. Since aparently were not supposed to use the term morman so people dont get us confused with those sick paligamist bastards.>> we would have people like hitler in heaven>If you're a fundamentalist, then you believe that Hitler merely needs to, just before he dies, accept Christ as his personal savior.Hitler can accept christ all he wants it doesnt change the fact he killed hundreds of jews and inocent people. Murder is one of the only things you cant be forgiven for so hes fucked.>> If Gods existance was proved then Gods supposed "plan" would collapse. >God's plan seems to be that we grovel at his heavenly feet. It would only make his plan work that much better. It doesnt say anywhere about groveling it says you should be grateful for everything hes done eg making the earth etc.>For God's sake, that guy did not die! Some people who've taken LSD thought they met God. I know of many people who have stared death in the face, but did not toss out their integrity to throw themselves at the mercy of an insane, moody, voilent clown of an imaginary diety. His heart stopped beating and he stopped breathing and was like that for 6 minuites. Also this guy was in no way religious, but yes he could have imagined it.>John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.Youre also after you die supposed get the chance to accept christ. I dont remember how exactly it works I didnt look into that part too much. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Jhn 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. Jhn 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. Jhn 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. Jhn 3:20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. Jhn 3:21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. Steve anyone an change the context in what somthing is supposed to meen to make it look negative by posting a small snippit of it. Its like having 1 piece out of a jigsaw with just that one piece you can make into what you want, with half the jigsaw you can probrably guess what it is but you still dont KNOW until you have it all. That passage is mainly saying that people would be condemed because they didnt accept god more because they loved doing evil more than doing good things. This is why you are supposed to be taught about God when you die, because if you dont know everything about a religion it can see fucked up and wrong to you because you dont have all the information. Being condemed for doing evil is more based on the situations and your perseption of right and wrong. So in a way when it comes to Christianity ignorence is bliss. So if you are taught all the information about God when you die and still wont accpet it with full knowlage of it and rather do evil then yeah you wont go to heaven. If somone doesnt belive in God because they have been miss informed or just havnt been told at all why should they go to hell? Anyway they shoulnt because that would be unfair so thats why they are given a second chance if you like. But obviously if people have done really bad stuff like say sadam then it doesnt matter if he accepts god when he dies cus hes fucked either way.
I've met a lot of fundamentalist Christians, who were very learned about their religion, who claim that accepting Christ before one dies is necessary and sufficient to get into heaven. I don't know where it says in the scriptures anything about unforgivable sins. Where does that come from? It sounds like a Catholic concept (i.e., the various flavors of sin). Likwise, purgatory.
The God of the Old Testament was obsesses with people doing what he wanted them to do (lest they be struck down and smitten, or drowned in a flood). He wanted to be noticed. He wanted his due. In the New Testament, he allowed that he may have been a bit of a jackass, but then all the miracles (burning bushes, parting seas, etc.) ended, after his hippie son died.
If you read the Sermon on the Mount and other things Christ was credited with, he was a man of compassion and tolerance (save for the fact that you're screwed if you don't accept him as your diety). He preached giving all your posessions to the poor, and turning the other cheek (i.e., if someone slaps you, present your other cheek to them). He would have been horrified by your battles with the chavs, the fistfights, the drinking and screwing "ugly" women, etc. What kind of Christian are you, exactly? Do you think Jesus would recognize you as one?

Likwise, purgatory.I dunno where it says in the scriptures about it but thats what I have been taught. There are two unforgivable sins. Murder is one because you can never repent of it, you have killed that person and how can you ever make that better? You cant. (Murder is acceptable if its self defence, but God supposedly knows the intentions of your heart so you couldnt kill somone and be like "hey jebus it was self defence when I killed my newborn baby") The other is denying god when you know he exists. I could find the scripture for you if I looked but I am lazy, very very lazy. But I know thats what the belief's are.>The God of the Old Testament was obsesses with people doing what he wanted them to do (lest they be struck down and smitten, or drowned in a flood). He wanted to be noticed. He wanted his due. In the New Testament, he allowed that he may have been a bit of a jackass, but then all the miracles (burning bushes, parting seas, etc.) ended, after his hippie son died.He flodded the earth because it was too evil. How could somone be good in a place where everyone is evil. Its almost impossable. Thats why the "second coming of christ" is supposed to happen when the world becomes so evil again he is supposed to come and people are gunna get fucked so to speak. Or if your a Jew he still hasnt come yet.>He wanted to be noticed. He wanted his due.He flooded the earth and killed everyone, most people probrably didnt even know that the reason they were drowing was because of God. Its not like he wrote it in the sky and handed out flyers before he did it. If he told everyone they would have made rafts.>In the New Testament, he allowed that he may have been a bit of a jackassI think you will find thats your own interpretation. I dont see the bible saying "Pimping Gangsta 1:14 For I god was a bit of a jackass but now im cool aiyt?">but then all the miracles (burning bushes, parting seas, etc.) ended, after his hippie son died. The bible didnt end after Jesus died, and if youre morman you belive in the book of morman as well as the bible in which there were loads of other miricals that happened.>If you read the Sermon on the Mount and other things Christ was credited with, he was a man of compassion and tolerance (save for the fact that you're screwed if you don't accept him as your diety). Except you are taught the about God and everything when you die, and if you have the full information about it and then decide you still want to not belive it then you go dont go to heaven but wont go to hell because there are 4 places you go to heven being the highest and hell being the lowest and 2 in the middle. The 3rd lowest down was supposed to be so great that if you saw it you would kill yourself to get there even. To go to hell you have to be pretty fucking evil like hitler evil.>It sounds like a Catholic concept (i.e., the various flavors of sin). If there werent "various flavors of sin" then murderers and rapeists would be in the same boat as a kid who stole a video game which doesnt seem to fair.
I didn't know you were Christian. Big upsThere are so many translations of the Bible it's become so dangerous. Does it not say in the Bible not to add or delete any jot or tittle? So much for that. John Wycliffe, William Tyndale, Erasmus, Jerome - these people were very careful when they translated the Bible and today people just don't care. I mostly read the NIV or KJV.
lol I dunno what big ups means but sure big ups to you too?
For the "unforgivable sin", see Mark 3:20-30. People have been worrying about what that means for a long time.In Christianity, it's important to go to the original sources, i.e. the Bible. Otherwise you just get the spin of one person or one institution or one age.
sorry it means two thumbs up lol
Ha ha, I feel so out the loop not knowing all this new lingo. I feel like an old man and I am only 18 lol.
lol don't worry about it you're not old.
You dont sound old at all
I dunno just turning 18 makes me feel old all of a sudden I know I am not but its an odd feeling it doesnt seem that long ago since I was only 15. Times flowen by so fast these past few years.
H.p> I am a christian because I believe in God but I didnt say I was a good oneIt sounds like you could also be a Jew or a Moslem. I just can't grasp the concept of being a Christian, but connsciously not being a good one. I don't see the point. Is it just to get your foot in the heaven door? It doesn't do anyone else any good. And JF is correct. The near-end of the Epilogue of the New Testament says, according to the NRSV version:In reply to:18 I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to that person the plagues described in this book;19 if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away that person's share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.It sounds like there's a special place in hell for Mormons. In reply to:20 The one who testifies to these things says, "Surely I am coming soon."Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!I guess God has a different idea if "soon" than I do.> Mark 3:20-30. People have been worrying about what that means for a long time.Yes, this is complicated stuff. atheism.about.com has an interesting discussion on the subject.> In Christianity, it's important to go to the original sources, i.e. the Bible. Otherwise you just get the spin of one person or one institution or one age. That sounds reasonable, but isn't it an argument for fundamentalism?
I wish i was still fifteen. No. I wish i was 21. Thats what i wish i was
That's what my sister says all the time and she's 23. My little brother makes me feel old. All the time.
