In reply to:i don't agree w singling out a minority like homosexuality and saying they are wrong.Thats funny, isnt that what your doing right now?In reply to:heh heh, so you are saying that this supposed omnipotent individual NEEDS our love? not very omnipotant is he then?I never said he needs our love. He needs it as much as you need love from the people around you. From your kids (if any), mother and father. In reply to:well, that doesn't make sense. if god created all, someone HAD to create god. it doesn't make any sense for god to just appear out of nowhere. He never 'appeared' from anywhere. He is always there. No one had to create Him. So tell me Last, what has 'science' has proven about the Big Bang theory and evolution. Why isn't there more mud on the ocean floor? According to secular scientific literature, the main reduction in mud is by plate tectonic subduction, which presently removes only 1 billion tons per year. As far as anyone knows, the other 24 billion tons per year simply accumulate. At that rate, erosion would deposit the present amount of sediment in less than 12 million years. If the big bang did happen, then where is the rest of the mud? Same goes with why isn't there as much dust on the moon as 'scientist' thought? Ponder that for awhile.

In reply to:
Thats funny, isnt that what your doing right now?
since when is christianity a minority?
In reply to:
I never said he needs our love. He needs it as much as you need love from the people around you. From your kids (if any), mother and father.
another hole my friend. an OMNIPOTANT person does NOT need love like a mother and father would. HE IS SUPPOSEDLY OMNIPOTANT! sheesh, use your head here, you are disproving your own point.
In reply to:
He never 'appeared' from anywhere. He is always there. No one had to create Him.
that doesn't make any sense. EVERYTHING has a begining. nothing is just 'there'. science, religion, everything starts somewhere. where does this 'being' start?
In reply to:

when the hell did i say that i believed in the big bang? and who cares about mud anyway....you kinda missed a bit there, cause i dont' have a clue what you are on about with the mud thingy.

In reply to: another hole my friend. an OMNIPOTANT person does NOT need love like a mother and father would He does not need our love, because of free will, he allows us to give it to him as a gift, and in return he gives us love. And if He does not get love from one of His creations, He turns His eyes from them, and they will not be in the kingdom of heaven. In reply to: that doesn't make any sense. EVERYTHING has a begining since you like science, tell me, does energy have a beginning? NO. "Energy can neither be created, nor destroyed, just transferred", and it states in the bible, that God is the Alpha and the Omega, THE BEGINNING, and the End. And a few posts up you told me that the world would be a lot brighter, once i opened my eyes to the falisies of God. Tell me, how is your life so much better then mine? what can you do that I can't? Besides doing blow, because I know for a fact that you don't have to be christian to see that blow is one of the stupidest things you could ever do.

In reply to: He does not need our love, because of free will, he allows us to give it to him as a gift, and in return he gives us love. And if He does not get love from one of His creations, He turns His eyes from them, and they will not be in the kingdom of heaven now you are contradicting yourself and your bible. god is supposedly all forgiving and loving? that doesn't sound all forgiving and loving to me... In reply to:Energy can neither be created, nor destroyed, just transferred", who states this? In reply to: And a few posts up you told me that the world would be a lot brighter, once i opened my eyes to the falisies of God. Tell me, how is your life so much better then mine? what can you do that I can't? Besides doing blow, because I know for a fact that you don't have to be christian to see that blow is one of the stupidest things you could ever do i never said blow was a smart thing. and that certainly doesn't make me a better person than you. what makes me a better person than you is that i can see life clearer than you. i don't feel held back because i have to watch what i think or do. i feel very liberated. i am glad of the things that i have learned, because i know right from wrong (like i wouldn't have figured that out on my own) but the difference between you and me is you have to actually watch what you say and do. you have no free will because you are constantly being judged by this 'so-called' god.
-
In reply to: who states this? First law of Thermodynamics. In reply to: now you are contradicting yourself and your bible. god is supposedly all forgiving and loving? that doesn't sound all forgiving and loving to me... yes, He is, but there is a reason why people go to hell, it's because they have not accepted Jesus as their savior, thus accepting the Lord's love. Chances are good that if you don't love God, you will not accept his love either. So by rejecting His love, and refusing to love Him, when it comes time to die, if a person still rejects and refuses, they are cast out of his sight into Hell.

OK, I've been gone a while, and I guess there’s some stuff that needs to be cleared up. Let me start from where I left off, and then I'll move on to something new. In reply to: actually Christians are any group of people who truly know that Christ died for their sins, hence the name CHRISTians. Christians then fall into subcategories, those are called religions. Denominations...they're called denominations not religions...Christianity is separated into two major groups, catholic and protestant (due to the reformation). Catholicism is broken into like two more denominations. Almost all protestant-based denominations have the same doctrinal beliefs. The only reason they're separated into denominations is because of different interpretations leading to different beliefs on (typically) minor biblical issues. The reason I say most is that some have broken off of Christianity and have hardly any of the same doctrinal beliefs, if any at all. These would be groups like Mormons, Jehovah’s witnesses, the unification church and the Jesus Seminar. In reply to: Christianity is not in itself, a religion. Catholic, protestant, 7'th day adventists, those are religions, Christianity is a term used to describe the belief in God, no matter if you're muslim, islam, catholic, protestant, lutheran, etc. Do you have any idea what you're talking about? 1) Lutherans are protestant. They are not separate groups.2) Islamic people are called muslims. Same thing.3) Muslims are not Christians. They do not recognize Christ as Savior.4) I think what you meant when you categorized all these groups as "Christians" is that they were Monotheistic religions. A monotheist is someone who believes in one god, regardless of the title given to this god, whether it be God, Yahweh, or Allah, etc.In reply to: you said earlier that you still have homosexual friends, well, according to the bible, that is wrong. why do you continue to associate with obviously such lower moral people I have no idea where you got an idea like that, Last:"At dawn He [Jesus] went to the temple complex again, and all the people were coming to Him. He sat down and began to teach them. Then the scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman caught in adultery, making her stand in the center. "Teacher," they said to Him, "this woman was caught in the act of committing adultery. In the law Moses commanded us to stone such women. So what do You say?" They asked this to trap Him, in order that they might have evidence to accuse Him. Jesus stooped down and started writing on the ground with His finger. When they persisted in questioning Him, He stood up and said to them, "The one without sin among you should be the first to throw a stone at her.” Then He stooped down again and continued writing on the ground. When they heard this, they left one by one, starting with the older men. Only He was left, with the woman in the center. When Jesus stood up, He said to her, "Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?""No one, Lord," she answered. "Neither do I condemn you," said Jesus. "Go, and from now on do not sin any more."] Then Jesus spoke to them again: "I am the light of the world. Anyone who follows Me will never walk in the darkness but will have the light of life."(John 8:2-12)First off, Christians are sinners right along with everyone else. If we weren't sinners, Last, why would we bother wanting a Savior?? Secondly, if we're to carry out the Great Commission at the end of Matthew and show the unbelievers the truth, how are we supposed to do that if we're not supposed to associate with them? We (Christians) were never told not to associate with anybody. It's not my fault if some Christians are so discriminatory that they won't even associate with people they think are "lower" than them. I don't consider anybody "lower," just misled and in need of assistance with recognizing fact. In reply to: your god is dead MY God isn't even alive in the sense that you think of it. He can't die, He's eternal. In reply to: try making a deal w the devil No thanks. In reply to: ever heard of schizophrenia? oooo, do you think that maybe that could be the cause of it? no no no , science would never know the answer Do you even know what schizophrenia is, Last? Mental disorder can't explain many of the occurrences that people have seen while on missions. In reply to: science and fact disprove god, so you better think of that. Two words: SHOW ME In reply to: they rely on this very unrealistic 'god' to save them from everything that may harm them in the world God doesn't stop bad things from happening, persecution causes church growth In reply to: people like me were born specifically to shake their thinking up Interesting, how can you be born for a specific purpose without a specific creator? In reply to: i was refering to f22's stupid comment about me being the devil mixed w my comment of 'better to reign in hell than serve in heaven.' I didn't mean to imply you were satan, I know you aren't, I'm not stupid. I was just saying that that situation has come up before, and that's the response to it. In reply to: However, there are people who have claimed to have died, and they have either gone to heaven or hell, they document their experiences, and tell others about them. ok, even I don't agree with that. Possible, but unlikely... In reply to: point out all the holes in the bible you can find No holes, you're just confused. Try Bible college, it might help In reply to: My God is still alive and kickin Amen. In reply to: I'll be praying for you Last You're not the only one, Stein_Auf. In reply to: I know you'll be able to find God in your own time. Not true necessarily, he'll certainly meet God when he dies, but if he refuses to know God during his life then thats that, God's not gunna make him do anything. In reply to: People argue for argument's sake...argument is a disguised sign of hope I don't disguise my hope. My hope is in Christ and I'll not hesitate to say it. In reply to: now, what i am saying is that i know what Christianity is all about. it's about deciept and deception with a dash of brainwashing. I could say the same thing about evolution/atheism. Atheism is a desperate attempt for man to explain his own existence without using God, and it’s a sad attempt at that. In reply to: i was simply stating that i was well aware of the 'greener' pasture Well you sure seem to be opposed to it...I wouldn't call you "well" aware. Maybe you had a nice glimpse of greener pasture during your Christian years? In reply to: it doesn't make any sense for god to just appear out of nowhere. see, this my friend, would be a 'hole' in your fairy tale. I could find just as many if not more holes in evolution. In reply to: so why would you assume that you were the only thing alive in the universe? in all this huge mix of stars, planets, galaxies, etc, there is positively zero way, that we are the only 'earth' out there. The basic primitive protein is made up of a chain of around 100 amino acids. There's 20 different kinds of amino acids, and they have to be hooked up in a specific way for evolution to work (even that is theoretical) your chances of getting even one protein in your ancient earth would be one out of every 10 to the negative forty-fifth power (amazingly small chance) given that there would be around 100 trillion chances for a connection every second for 5 million years. However, you also have to take into account how many proteins would have to connect to create life, as a protein isn't alive by itself. Imagine the odds that even two proteins would be not only formed on their own, but formed close enough to each other for them to connect. Now try to imagine that for a lot more protein strands. The odds of evolution working on even one planet is basically infinitely zero, so even with more planets than you can imagine a number for, and also taking into account how many could support life, I can pretty much guarantee that theres no life on other planets. Plus, yeah, the bible told me that God gave everything that has the breath of life in it to us. In reply to: heh heh, so you are saying that this supposed omnipotent individual NEEDS our love? not very omnipotant is he then? and 'what fun would this be?' so this is a big game to him? grreeat, all the more reason not to serve him then. He doesn't NEED our love, but He wants it. In reply to: you missed a part of it, 'It is also written" Do not put the Lord your God to the test, because you may find out that He in fact, does not exist' Hmm, not in my bible. In reply to: not completely believed upon by blind faith alonei for one, will not waste my life on something that is definitely a leap of faith. I won't either. In reply to: i don't agree w singling out a minority like homosexuality and saying they are wrong. Oh, realize though, that homosexuals aren't at all singled out. Theres many groups of people that do things that go against the bible, like cults, other religions, certain lifestyle traits like homosexuality, lying, stealing and murdering. In reply to: another hole my friend. an OMNIPOTANT person does NOT need love like a mother and father would. HE IS SUPPOSEDLY OMNIPOTANT! sheesh, use your head here, you are disproving your own point. Come again? In reply to: that doesn't make any sense. EVERYTHING has a begining. nothing is just 'there'. science, religion, everything starts somewhere. where does this 'being' start? First: If everything has a beginning, how do YOU believe the universe came into existence?Second: God created time and space as we know it, and doesn't exist within the laws of nature he created for us. Beginning is a concept implied by time, which was created by God. In reply to: what makes me a better person than you is that i can see life clearer than you. i don't feel held back because i have to watch what i think or do. i feel very liberated. I don't see myself as a better person than anybody, we are all created by God for a specific purpose that He wants us to carry out. Sadly, some people choose not to. My view though is that everybody is equal. Also, I also feel very liberated, because I've learned the truth about why the world and everything in it exists. Thats a great feeling, that can't even be explained until you feel it for yourself. In reply to: you have no free will because you are constantly being judged by this 'so-called' god. Just because I CHOOSE to do what God wants me to do doesn't mean I don't have free will, because, notice, I said CHOOSE to do what God wants. He and I are happy that way. Anyway, I have some questions for you, Last.First, please explain your beliefs on the following subjects, as I’ve stated mine and it would make the debate more interesting…1) Beginning of the universe2) Beginning of our planet and how it got to be in the right place at the right time3) Beginning of life (First cell? evolution? creation?)4) Are you an accident? And if so, do you still have purpose or do you just do whatever you want on a whim? If you have morals, why?5) If you believe in evolution, please explain in detail what you already know about it and also in detail, the process that occurred, starting from the beginning and leading to today After you explain these broader things to me, I'll ask you a few more questions just to try to clarify some things for myself and the others on where exactly your atheistic beliefs could come from. If you don't know, do some research on what you believe. It's allowed in a debate. This one anyway...
-
lol yeah, i have no clue what i'm talking about at 3 or 4 AM, sorry...But all I need to know is that I'm a follower of Jesus (try my best at least, for I am man, and therefor - sin) also that I love God, and He loves and watches over me...All else is just dust, blowin' in the wind.
-
In reply to: yes, He is, but there is a reason why people go to hell, it's because they have not accepted Jesus as their savior, thus accepting the Lord's love. Chances are good that if you don't love God, you will not accept his love either. So by rejecting His love, and refusing to love Him, when it comes time to die, if a person still rejects and refuses, they are cast out of his sight into Hell i love how you people speak like you hang out with him on a regular basis. he doesn't talk to you, he doesn't send you emails. like come on...not real here people.
-
U know i must say i find this discussion quite entertaining. I find it rather funny that often times atheist's accuse christians of not using any facts in there arguments, but in this debate it would apear to be quite the opposite. Ive read several facts presented by this christian, and well none by the second party.

In reply to: OK, I've been gone a while, and I guess there’s some stuff that needs to be cleared up. the only thing that needs to be cleared up is your head. In reply to: I have no idea where you got an idea like that, Last:"At dawn He [Jesus] went to the temple complex again, and all the people were coming to Him. He sat down and began to teach them. I don't consider anybody "lower," just misled and in need of assistance with recognizing fact homosexual's are NOT misled. they have their way of life and who the hell are you to tell them they are wrong. oh wait, this is the same person who can switch his sexual preference with a whim. never mind, you have EVERYTHING figured out. ... twat.oh, and quoting something out of the bible doesn't prove your point at all if the person your are quoting it to doesn't believe in the bible. In reply to: Do you even know what schizophrenia is, Last? Mental disorder can't explain many of the occurrences that people have seen while on missions. yes i know what it is. my freakin girlfriend has it. so i thank you for keeping your mouth shut. now, there are literally thousands of mental disorders that probably haven't even been found out yet. unless these suposed 'possessed' individuals are flying around a room, i don't believe it for one second. show me where you are getting THAT info from. i would be very interested in hearing how one would go about connecting himself that closely with the devil. In reply to: God doesn't stop bad things from happening, persecution causes church growth no shit god doesn't stop bad things, because he isn't there to stop bad things. and persecution doesn't cause church growth, i am persucuting you this very moment, i don't see peopel flocking to your church. In reply to: Interesting, how can you be born for a specific purpose without a specific creator i didn't mean it so bloody literally, see, that's the problem w bible thumpers, they take EVERYTHING so literally. for all you know, jesus could have been the very first doctor, and these 'miracles' were only his medicine healing people, which of course got passed down through the ages and mixed up. ever heard of the game 'telephone'? same idea. In reply to: I know you aren't, I'm not stupid uh, yeah you are. that much is for certain. In reply to: No holes, you're just confused. Try Bible college, it might help they only teach you what they want you to know. otherwise you would see the holes for yourself. In reply to: I don't disguise my hope. My hope is in Christ and I'll not hesitate to say it and i will not hesitate to say you are just another sheep following mindlessly into oblivion. In reply to: I could say the same thing about evolution/atheism. Atheism is a desperate attempt for man to explain his own existence without using God, and it’s a sad attempt at that well, where the hell are the atheist churchs that repeat the same thing over and over every sunday? do you even know how brainwashing works? In reply to: I could find just as many if not more holes in evolution you my friend, avoided the questions. i said it's impossible for god to just 'appear' and be there forever, and that, that statement was a hole. i never said i believed in evolution or that there aren't holes in that theory either. try answering a question. In reply to: and also taking into account how many could support life, I can pretty much guarantee that theres no life on other planets. Plus, yeah, the bible told me that God gave everything that has the breath of life in it to us ok, that is sooooo closed minded. how can you guarentee it. because of somethign the bible says? thats retarded, it's already been proved that the universe is insanely massive, we are a spec of dust in the whole bloody thing, REASON and simple THOUGHT would bring you to at least WONDER if there was life elsewhere. egotism makes you believe that people are the highest form of life. yet another negative charecter traight of a christian fundamentalist. In reply to: He doesn't NEED our love, but He wants it good for him, when you see (hahahahahahahah) him again, tell him i said 'go f**k yourself!' In reply to: Oh, realize though, that homosexuals aren't at all singled out. Theres many groups of people that do things that go against the bible, like cults, other religions, certain lifestyle traits like homosexuality, lying, stealing and murdering you are a bigot. how dare you place homosexuality along the same lines as stealing, lying and murder. there is positively nothing wrong w queers. they have every right to live as your sorry ass. In reply to: Come again? he's omnipotant, omnipotence is the be all end all. www.dictionary.com quotes it as:om·nip·o·tent ( P ) Pronunciation Key (m-np-tnt)adj. Having unlimited or universal power, authority, or force; all-powerful. See Usage Note at infinite.now. it would stand to reason that someone that high up would be above ANY human feelings or desires as we are much further down the food chain of this 'god'. so, in essence, god neither needs to feel loved, nor understand why he would bother to feel loved. he is all. doesn't make a lick of sense why someone who certainly is above it, doesn't need it. In reply to: My view though is that everybody is equal no you don't. or you wouldn't feel the need to pray for me. or say things like "certain lifestyle traits like homosexuality, lying, stealing and murdering" that obviously says homosexuals are horrible people.
-
In reply to: 1) Beginning of the universe to be honest, it doesn't concern me. it may be something that i cannot ever understand, however, the ideas that have been presented in front of me at this time, ie: god, big bang, evolution; don't really hit home for me. until something else presents itself for me to think about, i will glad speak out against them. especially god. (duh!) In reply to: 2) Beginning of our planet and how it got to be in the right place at the right time see previous statement. In reply to: 3) Beginning of life (First cell? evolution? creation?) again, see previous statement, you know these questions suck. they can all be answered in one statement, whether your answer is big bang, god or evolution. In reply to: 4) Are you an accident? And if so, do you still have purpose or do you just do whatever you want on a whim? If you have morals, why? i have morals, because i know how it feels to be hurt or damaged. i personally don't like feeling like that, so why would i make anyone else feel like that. i also have the instinct in me to be the best there is at whatever i do. and that includes throwing people religions in their faces. In reply to: 5) If you believe in evolution, please explain in detail what you already know about it and also in detail, the process that occurred, starting from the beginning and leading to today i dont'. so no.

In reply to: U know i must say i find this discussion quite entertaining. I find it rather funny that often times atheist's accuse christians of not using any facts in there arguments, but in this debate it would apear to be quite the opposite. Ive read several facts presented by this christian, and well none by the second party. i agree. and i really don't feel i need to. i think it is common sense that god doesn't exist. the idea of hell and heaven is laughable. anyone who can think straight and see what is in reality can obviously see all the faults and wrong doings that is religion and all it encompasses.
-
This is a pretty funny thread. Forcing religion upon one another. HAHAHA...If god is truly all loving then he has the understanding to see how people can doubt his existence. There conversation is over, now stop.
-
BAM! thank you walken. tips hat slightly
-
If common sense is dictated by stasticts, than most americans belive in GOd, or at least some sention being. Hencforth, it would be for the betterment of your argument to present some viable evidence. With out the facts your asking me to belive that God does NOT exist simply on the premise of, well faith. That ones kinda ironic. Judging from your response to f22 post, u would be classifying yourself as an agnostic. But if that be the case then why do u argue so fervrantly for your cause.
-
because it pisses me off when someone is sooo fundamental. like i said in an earlier post, i am a bit of a paradox being as i am doing the same thing.here is a song that you should really consider listening to (by you, i mean all you fundamental christians)"he sewed his eyes shut because he is afraid to seehe tries to tell me what i put inside of mehe got the answers to ease my curiosityhe dreamed a god up and called it christianitygod is dead and no one caresif there is a hell i'll see you therehe flexed his muscles to keep his flock of sheep in linehe made a virus that would kill off all the swinehis perfect kingdom of killing, suffering and paindemands devotion atrocities done in his namegod is dead and no one caresif there is a hell i'll see you thereYour god is dead and no one caresdowning in his own hypocrisyif there is a hell i will see you therewill you die for this?"Trent Reznor, "Heresy"

This has just become pointless. Some people believe in god, and others don't. Maybe there is a god and maybe there isn't. Badmouthing and forcing religion on someone is just idiotic. Respect others beliefs and move on.
-
In reply to: This has just become pointless. Some people believe in god, and others don't. Maybe there is a god and maybe there isn't. Badmouthing and forcing religion on someone is just idiotic. Respect others beliefs and move on. yah, guys come on. heh heh. seriously amanda. we are having a good time here. don't go spoiling it. i am thoroughly enjoying this here debate.
-
well you aren't involved in this thread, f22 asked me some questions and i replied to him, then he said he would ask me some more. so i am anxiously awaiting the reply. you don't like, don't read it.
-
i tried to end it, but when a man cannot see his own errors, he is considered blind, and will continue on not seeing his own downfall.
I am saying you guys should end before you lose credibility for arguing over nothing.
God, could exist and could not. If he does then he understands a person's apprehension. If he doesn't then there it does not matter.
